BigBox vs Shopify's free Bundles app
Every cost-conscious merchant should ask this question before paying for a bundle app, so here is the honest answer. Shopify Bundles is free and good at fixed bundles. BigBox exists for a different job: letting shoppers build their own box and rewarding them as it grows.

An honest read.
Both are real tools. Which one fits depends on what you sell.
- You sell a fixed combination at a fixed price - a duo pack, a starter kit, a multipack.
- You want zero app spend and are happy to manage bundle pricing by hand.
- You do not need shopper choice, tier rewards, gifts, or free-shipping incentives.
- You want shoppers to pick their own products and variants on the product page.
- You want buy-more-save-more tiers, free gifts, or free-shipping rewards applied automatically at checkout.
- You want per-bundle funnel and paid-order analytics to see what actually sells.
- You want the cart to stay real Shopify lines with no bundle product to maintain.
Common questions.
Is Shopify Bundles really free?
Yes. Shopify Bundles is Shopify's own free app for fixed bundles and multipacks. If a fixed combination at a fixed price is all you need, it is a perfectly good choice and you should not pay for an app.
Can shoppers build their own box with Shopify Bundles?
No. Shopify Bundles creates fixed bundle products in the admin; shoppers buy the combination you predefined. A build-a-box or mix-and-match experience on the product page is what apps like BigBox add.
Does Shopify Bundles discount the bundle automatically?
Shopify Bundles sets a fixed price on the bundle product, and per its documentation the price does not update automatically when component prices change. Tiered buy-more-save-more discounts, free gifts, and free-shipping rewards are not part of the app.
Can I use both?
Yes. They solve different problems: Shopify Bundles for fixed multipacks you merchandise as products, BigBox for build-your-own offers with tier rewards on the product pages you pick.
Give your product pages a box worth building.
Add BigBox, drop in the app block, and let shoppers assemble their own box - rewards and analytics included.
